OAK Terminal Two Expansion

Client: Port of Oakland
Date: 2003-2006

FMG provided highly-detailed, three dimensional design studies, resulting in a state-of-the-art, energy efficient, sustainable building for Oakland International Airport’s Terminal Two expansion. A major design challenge that the team addressed was the high concentration of utility systems located at the juncture of the existing terminal structure and the new facility. The new concourse level accommodates food and retail concessions, passenger amenities, and comfortable waiting areas, while the lower level houses ramp operations, support offices, a communications center, and the airport’s main distribution facility.  With sustainability at the forefront of all design decisions, Terminal Two is the first airport terminal in the United States to receive LEED Silver Certification.
