FMG effectively modernized this existing underground downtown Oakland station. The design improves mobility, environmental sustainability, and circulation. Key elements such as new station agent booth, art glass guardrails, and five-foot-high glass fare barriers enhance accessibility and visibility while reducing fare evasion. A new elevator and bike racks expand rider capacity while remaining within the existing facility’s structural restraints. Integrated LED fixtures throughout the station conserve energy while addressing security concerns, and a restroom renovation to meet ADA compliance. New artwork and refreshed finishes improve the patron experience.
